This time last year I was working in Jerusalem, supporting Israeli and Palestinian peace organisations and monitoring human rights abuses carried out by Israeli authorities against Palestinian Christians and Muslims. It was remarkable, in a horrible way, to witness the place where the Bible’s events are deemed to have taken place be the setting for such inequality, injustice, and brutality.
